The difficulty of the Metroid games has always been on the more tough-but-fair side in which death is possible but uncommon if you're exploring and finding power-ups regularly and can dodge decently, whereas Hollow Knight and Ori both lean into difficulty in different ways (HK through challenging bosses to the point of having a DLC dedicated to boss rush mode and one-hit KO challenges, Ori through platforming challenges). The bugs/medieval fantasy setting of Hollow Knight didn't interest me much, nor did the Ghibli-esque vibe of Ori, but I really like sci-fi and future tech themes the Metroid world offers.I also think that Dread is catering to a slightly wider audience in terms of gameplay difficulty. They're in the same genre but aren't the same game, similar to how Binding of Isaac and Hades are both rogue-likes but offer very different stories, gameplay and overall experiences.Additionally, some people may prefer the sci-fi feel that Metroid offers.
